Vintage Kellogg's Character #5: Cornelius the Rooster®

Making his debut in 1958, Cornelius & the Rooster& has been a permanent fixture on the Kellogg's Corn Flakes ® box ever since. Cornelius ; rules the roost when it comes to cereal! Dark Horse has won wide acclaim for its successful series of Classic Comic statues, inspired by the syroco statues of the 1940s and sculpted by Yoe! Studios. Over 50 different statues have been produced, with many selling out. Our Cornelius statue is inspired by images of Cornelius; from the Kellogg's archives, but also recalls the look of 1940s sculpting and painting, a style Craig Yoe describes as "primitive but charming." |

Gremlins Statue: Fifinella with Widgets
 One of the most exciting publishing events of this or any other year is the re-presentation of a long-lost jewel, Roald Dahl's Gremlins . Purchased by Disney in the 1940's, and only published once as a book, Dark Horse brought the book back in October and has also been creating new Gremlins stories. Are we excited? You bet! But wait . . . that's not all. Dark Horse, working closely with the creative talents at Disney Consumer Products and Gentle Giant Studios, has been crafting an ambitious program of toys, dolls and other collectibles based on Gremlins. This month we are pleased to present the Fifinella with Widgits statue. Taken directly from the pages of the Gremlins book, this statue features the primary female character, Fifinella, with three of her Widgits. No expense has been spared to create the most animated and detailed interpretation possible! |
Classic Peanuts Character #10: Sally
 Inspired by "syroco" sculptures that were popular in the 1930s and 40s, the ten new Peanuts statuettes from Dark Horse are designed and manufactured in a style consistent with the earlier figures. This month we feature the tenth and final statue in the series-Sally. Produced in a limited edition of hand-numbered copies, the figure is fully painted and ready to display. Each statuette comes carefully packaged in a custom-tooled, full-color, litho-printed tin box. Classic Comic Characters #27: Sluggo Statue
 Nancy's ragmuffin pal, Sluggo, was a reliable comic foil in cartoonist Ernie Bushmiller's multi-decade succession of corny jokes. Wearing raggedy, patched-up clothing and sporting a low-brow cap, the young lad lived in a broken-down house, seemingly without adult supervision. As he lazily meandered through life, young Sluggo met the challenges of a hand-to-mouth existence, as well as the annoyances of authority, with a happy-go-lucky attitude that belied his low estate. No matter what kind of trouble they got in to Nancy was always Sluggo's "goil" and they continue to appear in newspapers today walking in step, side by side. But it was his obsession with the art of Mary Blair that led him to consider a career in animation. This career has involved him in countless cartoons, including his own short "Freddy Seymore's Amazing Life" for Nickelodeon, and he is currently Background Supervisor for Cartoon Network's Time Squad . It is the culmination of these activities and influences that have shaped his work. |
